In my baby days as a Christian, I thought God only loved me if I followed the rules that others had decided.
Inside I didn’t think that sounded right but was too uneducated spiritually to have the confidence to ask questions. Just be a good girl, Suzie, keep quiet, and abide by the rules.
There is is only one rule for salvation: Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou will be saved, you and your household. Acts 16:31
Salvation requires Jesus plus Jesus plus Jesus and nothing else. Additional requirements are placed by man and not God.
As I grew in the Lord and studied, I realized these things didn’t govern my salvation. It was a gift from God. If I didn’t cross every ‘t’ and dot every ‘i’, He would not take that gift from me. He will be displeased if I act unChristlike but I would not be thumped into hell. I felt liberated and could be me without fear or condemnation from God. Men maybe, but not God.
If you have dropped out of attending church services for similar reasons or any reason, I encourage you to consider returning to God’s house. Find a Bible-believing church that teaches the word and the unconditional love of God.
