I’ve been interested in the difference between Jews and Arabs since I visited in 70-71.
It was just after the six day-war and there was a lot of tension and mistrust between them. Our guide and bus driver kept telling me I looked like the Arab people and could pass for a wife of an Arab. I had black hair and my skn was a lot darker than I am now from being in the Sun and I had the long nose with a hump on it. lol
Of course my comeback was that American women were not taught to walk behind their husband and be subservient!
When we moved to the Israeli section I began to notice being treated differently. The security guards began searching me everywhere I went, the wailing wall, the museum and the Mosque! No one else, just me.
When we left TelAiv for the Island of Cyprus, two lady Security Guards took me to a private room away from my friends to search every part of my body including my carryon luggage and my wig.
Being cute, I told them they COULD bring in two good looking guys to search me. They were not amused by my humor and looked at me sternly as they took me back to my group.
Curious about their descendant ancestry, I searched Google. I found that the Jews preceded both Arabs and Muslims in Palestine by 2600 years if measured from the time of Abraham or by at least 1600 years if measured from the establishment of the Kingdom of Israel.
Interestingly, the Arabs are believed to be descendants of Ishmael. The Jews are descendants of Isaac.
